Domain bought. I have a neato idea, now it will take a couple months to get it fleshed out. And get my pal to draw a little somethin' for me for it. A lot of work, but I'm hoping it pays off longterm. =) Or at least is fun.

Be veeeeeeeeeewy vewy quiet....

I'm hunting domains.

And, as I do have a personal rule, to gain one means to drop one, if not all are in use. And not all are.

The day is coming...

It might be today! So make sure you add [info]lunysyn to your friends list for all my "regular" entries, easy to do, and hang around on the friends list if you are on there, for the blood and guts. ;)

Last night after a dinner of leftover sausage soup (DLJ made a LOT of it, I'm tellin' ya!) we went to the gym. The later in the evening schedule is something I'm settling into, I guess. I actually think I might be sleeping better on the gym nights, getting so tired closer to bed. We shall see after more time passes. It is definitely quieter at night, it's always easy to get an elliptical, and it's not the usual time of day I am there, so no Rachel Ray (sluuuuuut!) on the television. Yay for favors of the later evening.

I bought a HUGE bag of decaf coffee when I was at CostCo earlier in the week. A regular bag from Safeway costs about $7 and is maybe 1/4-1/3 the size of this thing. This cost $6, and is grown with less of an environmental impact than many coffees, planting in the shade when possible, not creating endless rows of trees that strip out the native landscape and soils, and supporting education programs and other things for the local workers. It's not perfect but it's trying, and I will support that. This bag should equal at least $50 of cafeteria bought cups of coffee...and more than that of Starbucks. It's not bad, and I still have my Peet's on the weekend for treats and a little luxury.

I have got to get the elecrical guys to fix the light over my head. It glares into my eyes and I feel like I need a baseball cap. They came by to fix it last week and fixed the wrong bank of lights. So now the lights to my left are pleasantly dimmed...but not the ones I need taken care of. Maybe today or tomorrow.

internet go boom

We called up Verizon the other night to have them cut long-distance service to our land line. We don't need it, we never use it.
Around the same time, the Internet stopped working! We called our provider, not them, the modem was fine, we thought it was Verizon. Turns out, it wasn't them either! DLJ found a loose cord this morning. We had gotten new cordless phones this weekend, as the old system held a charge for about 3 minutes, literally, then went dead. Somehow in putting in the new base, a cord went wonky in the jack. But DLJ found it, and so when I get home, there will be internet again!
Last night he had to work late, so I was home alone with no Internet to amuse me! Horror! I put away some CostCo purchases (buying in bulk is great but it is really hard for a family of TWO), read for awhile, started making pasta and then saw that Dragavonne had called. He was making steak and invited me over. I love my alone time but I am also trying to work on community. If the current goals of western society are not align with what mine are, as I have been thinking, what should be there in place of that? Connections. Friends. People. So I said "sure!" and went over, where I nibbled some YUMMY steak and wrapped most of it up for DLJ, who loves meat and I think I've cooked steak for him once in five years. Chat chat, converse, converse, then I went home.
Today is Tuesday, which means gym day. It might rain again today. And now I have some verk to do!

The way it's gonna work

Ok. I don't know what's up with the bug in Wordpress with RSS, but my workaround works so... unless they break the workaround, I guess I don't care.

This journal will become friends only, all the time. If you are on my friends list, yay! I will still be posting here, the same way I always have, posts I don't want everyone to see will be here. So don't delete this one from the friends list if you are on it, and the journal will have the requisite "ask to be added" thinger on the top. I think this will happen this week.

The syndication will be posts made at lunesse.com, and sent to the rss feed. The feed goes to another version of me, [info]lunysyn. Adding that to your friends list will give you all my "regular" entries that appear at my main journal. Feel free to comment there, as it will be on my friends list as well, so I will see your comments. Does that make sense? I think it will improve my writing, as twisted as it sounds. Lack of content at lunesse.com bums me out, and I don't put stuff in both places, and I'm always aware of this fact and therefore churn out crud sometimes because I know it's not going at lunesse.com.

Ah, the revolutions of a luny mind. So. I will post when [info]lunesse goes friends only. At that point, the rss will be seen in my user profile, so that you can go there and click to get it on your friends list, if you want to see the bulk of my entries. And you will still see stuff from here, the more nitty gritty, I guess. This might even happen today, depends when I just commit, already. But definitely by the end of the week.

blah, blah, blah blah blah blah. Blah!

Some recent stuff...

Some eh, some ok, the honey vanilla bracelet needs a redo, I think. Ah, learning.

The plate is now slumping. I need a grinder, bad. That's my next purchase, so that I can even out all my edges and make the plates quality.

But wordpress is wonky, they've got a bug. I'm not going to advertise the feed yet, until I decide it's solid. So it might be a week or so until this bug in 1.5 Wordpress is figured out. But I got it working. Dammit. :)

He tells me most days what's being made for them. *whimper*

Baked Potato with bacon, roasted mushrooms, chives, sour cream, etc.

A melange of fresh salads; roasted beet with blue cheese and hazelnuts, organic cucumbers 'raita' with yogurt and fresh mint, baby asparagus and carrot, cranberry and cannellini bean salad with shallots, ubiquitous cottage cheese, and tossed salad with fresh croutons and tomatoes.

Breads: Ciabatta, Olive

I used to have a good journal

What killed it:

The Blog (spam! Make the spammers stop commenting and lunesse.com will come back to life)
Turning 30 (I can't think of a good reason why I stopped the purple entries. What happened? I have no idea)
Somehow thinking everyday stuff is boring.
The Book (It sucked the writing out of me as writing's focus and the journal never recovered. It's not bad I focused on it while I was writing, but...)
Getting Married (It shouldn't matter but it did somehow. Remember when I was dating fourteen men at once, at various stages of dinner/making out/Saturday outings?)in the Fall/Winter of 97/98? That was so freaking cool!
Hobbies (they eat up time. I didn't have a hobby during my journaling stint until 1998...when I started bellydancing. Fooosh, the journal got sporadic and boring. Glass will not help here)

There's probably more. I have to get better. I really do. I used to be interesting.

Our new friends we met at the Duran concert sent us their photos today, I just waded through them. Yay! They got some great shots later in the show, so even though we weren't taking pictures of Simon in the 1978 shirt, we have some for our memories!

Last night [info]synthcat came over to watch the silliness that is Duran's "Arena" video. It's concert footage from the classic 1984 tour, but spliced in with "plot" with Barbarella's nemesis, Milo O' Shea. HE must have really been hurting for work. Plus three midgets and lots of women hanging upsidown in lingerie.
The "making of" section was pretty fun though.

Whoot!

It was fun to just sit and talk about the show last week and hang out. DLJ wandered in and out.
Tonight I'm going to meet with a client about a site (was scheduled last week but got delayed), and maybe fire the glass into a bowl. The blank bubbled up on me, when I saw it this morning. I let the kiln wash dry for two days before firing, so the bubble result is unexpected. We will see what happens when it slumps. I'll try another this weekend, maybe. I'm determined to get one right.

Off to work. I am moving today to a new location, so almost everything is packed up.

Home.

I went home and went outside and dug seedlings out from the deck. Mom suggested boiling water, I might try that to see if it helps, but I still want to get the fall debris out. I took my time and watched the yard as I worked, squirrels running around, the cats sniffing around the grass, the birds. I wonder when the bats will start flying again. I cleaned out the slats on the teak benches as well. I did about 1/4 of the deck and then swept it clean where I had been. Much better. I then went in the studio and laid out a dish, and painted the kilnwash on the mold and the shelf. Tonight I will fire the blank, the pattern, and Wednesday I will fire the mold. Oh, for a larger kiln so I could do more than one! Ah, soon enough, that will come.

Once I had the dish laid out (plus a few pendants to sprinkle around the sides of the shelf, I went back inside, checked some email, and talked to Dad on the phone for awhile. There's a possibility we would be in Tokyo when they are planning to be on a cruise they are taking this Fall, which starts in Tokyo. It might be worth scheduling so that that happens, but it will depends on the price differences between Sept. and Oct. on airfare. I then went to a friend's house to check out his new motorcycle he had just brought home. His first was too small for him, so I was not surprised that he had to upgrade. From there, on to a Italian family restaurant, where I sat happily with my book and slurped whole wheat spaghetti with sauce. Wow, they really can do the whole wheat excellently! They cook it better than I do. This place has HUGE portions (I had what had to be the equivalent of an entire box of spaghetti on my plate) so I only ate about a third of it, had the rest boxed up and left. I love eating out alone! My book was good and I think folks always feel bad for you, so they are super nice. I didn't have to try to hold up a conversation, just read and eat.

After that I went BACK to the friend's house to talk to his future brother-in-law, who has a finishing nail gun I'm interested in borrowing. His sister was there too, and after the nail gun conversation was done, we just hung out and talked for awhile. Then it was home to a little bit of Xbox, and then sitting in bed with Ankimo and the g4, chatting with DLJ over iChat before bed.

I slept wonderfully, and dreamed of rainclouds. We really need them here!

Time for some decaf coffee, then work.

Night alone

DLJ is in Bend overnight. What to do? I have too many options!

Weed deck (we didn't sweep it last fall and now there are some naughty seedlings between the planks...need to actually get a garden tool and weed the deck.) Funny!

Glass? Which kind? Beads? But I have a straight edge, finally. I can make a dish! What to do?

Read? Go for a walk? Eat in, or cheap dinner out alone with a book for fun?

Clean the bathroom? Get drunk and listen to George Michael CDs? Take a long bath? Stop at a bead store to get a few spacers and rethink/do the Milk and Honey set bracelet?

The mind boggles! I love being home alone sometimes! But I will miss DLJ and look forward to seeing him when he comes home tomorrow.

I don't know what it is about this job...

But I constantly feel I turn myself into a ditz in front of the IT team. I just went to a meeting that always was at 10, but switched to 11, but I forgot. Then I sent email asking where everyone was.

DER! At least this time I am sort of redeemed, the Outlook calendar still has it at 10, for me, meaning I never got invited to the updated time.

I never do this in MY dept. Only with the geeks.

They must think I am such an idiot artist. I can code dammit! Sorta! ;)

Synthcat, I still owe you the really large Nick and Simon, sorry!

I managed to get a few more photos resized this weekend from the Portland show, they are really big.

All our shots weren't great, I included a pretty funny one of Simon last...just because. And John just wouldn't hold still! ;)

And the rest! )

I just went to a very fun party, by myself. DLJ and I today ripped out heather plants, picked up a pickup truck, went into Portland and picked up our two rainbarrels, pushed the stinky, cat-ified couch and lots of wood and yard debris into the back, went to the dump, unloaded everything came back, received a huge load of horseshit and hopefully also made a new friend (thank you [info]mrcarparts!!!), and spread mulch and manure around the roses and the front walk with grasses, and started aerating the area where the heather was to add manure to to start getting ready for the marionberry vine...collectively. And not all in that order... He was tired, I was tired, but I wanted to go out. It's fun to go out alone sometimes.

Now I am back, and tired, freshly showered and ready for reading and bed. The living room smells great without the couch already. Sad, it was a nice couch. It will be awhile before we get another. I still have my eyes on those sustainable hardwoods chairs...again, it will be awhile.

What a fabulous party, with yummy vegan food (the potato salad was SO good). I met some nice folks that I hope to see again. Thanks, splitpeasoup! I think me and the cute dog hit it off (the cats have been smelling me ever since I got home, even DLJ said "dog!"
